I can't remember a time when I didn't want to play piano. I begged my parents for lessons when I was a preschooler. After taking lessons from a private teacher for many years, I studied music at Washington University in St. Louis where I graduated with a degree in Mathematics. I later furthered my musical studies with a private teacher in metro Washington , DC.
My family and I moved to Michigan in 1986. I've been teaching here for more than eight years. In addition to my students, I'm a pianist for two area churches. I enjoy playing all kinds of music, from classical to pop rock. I'm particularly fond of the romantic songs of the 1930s and 40s.
I'm married, have a 12-year-old son (who takes flute here at McCourt) and enjoy reading mysteries, baking, knitting, and working out at the YMCA.
We will use lesson books, workbooks, and a computer program called "Music Ace" during our half-hour lessons. My goal as a teacher is to communicate my love and enthusiasm for music so that my students can experience it for themselves.
