Natalie Frakes
Violin, Viola, Cello

Violinist Natalie Frakes is an experienced performer and educator and believes deeply in using music as a vehicle for social change. Natalie graduated from Wayne State University's music program with distinction where she studied with Dr. Laura Roelofs. In addition to frequently performing, she is also Director of Orchestras for Oxford High School.
A passionate educator, Natalie has served as a string instructor and general music teaching artist in a number of programs. She is frequently hired as a clinician and performing coach for music programs all over Michigan. Her experiences include positions at Wayne State University's recent String Project @ Wayne, Detroit's Urban Stringz, the Detroit Symphony Orchestra's Civic Youth Ensembles, and the Dearborn Youth Symphony. She was also recently involved as a summer teaching artist with the Baltimore Symphony's El Sistema-inspired Orch Kids.
Natalie is also a versatile violinist who enjoys playing an eclectic mix of genres and styles, from classical to commercial pop, house, R & B, latin, jazz, and folk music. She has performed and recorded with Detroit Symphony Orchestra and Michigan Opera Theater members and some of Detroit's best jazz and R & B musicians. Natalie is a member of The Brian Alexander Band, house band for the Detroit Pistons at The Palace, and is a violinist and vocalist for the band Man Fransisco.
Hobbies/Interests
Other interests of Natalie’s include blogging, playing tennis, attending concerts, volunteering and traveling.
