Jenna is a 2008 graduate of Waterford Kettering High School. She was the concertmistress of Kettering’s Chamber and Symphony orchestras in her senior year and also served as a mentor in the Concert Orchestra. She was a member of the Oakland Youth Orchestra in both their Symphony (principal second violin) and Chamber Orchestras. She received a merit scholarship in OYO in May 2008. She was in MSBOA's All-State Orchestra in January 2008 and MSBOA's All-Michigan Honors Orchestra in May 2008. Jenna was involved with Kettering’s Contemporary String Ensemble and also played for musicals at Kettering. During her high school career, she earned 16 Division I ratings at the district Solo & Ensemble level, 11 Division I ratings at the state level and numerous Division II ratings in addition. She studied privately with Martha Windscheif in high school and was under the direction of Merlyn Beard at Kettering. Jenna attended Miami University in 2008 where she studied violin under Dr. Harvey Thurmer and was principal second violin of the Miami University Symphony Orchestra as well as being involved with the National Association for Music Education. Jenna is currently attending Oakland University, working on her Bachelor's of Music in Instrumental Music Education K-12. She currently studies violin under Elizabeth Rowin. She plays with the Oakland Symphony Orchestra and is principal second violin of the Oakland University Chamber Orchestra, under the batons of Dr. Greg Cunningham and Alan MacNair. At Oakland she has also performed chamber music and has been a member of the African Ensemble. Jenna has been teaching violin privately since 2006. She has completed music education field work in the Clarkston school district, Rochester school district and Troy school district. Jenna is also a frequent wedding and event violinist.
Hobbies/Interests
Jenna loves to play her violin in her spare time. She also enjoys going to concerts, reading, hanging out with her friends, scrapbooking, playing video games, listening to music, and watching movies.
Books & Materials Needed
To be determined at first lesson. All students need a music stand and metronome for home practice.
