I started playing bagpipes in 1964 and have been learning and imroving ever since. I've studied with some of the best bagpipers in the world and have played in prize-winning bands competing at the upper levels in Ontario, Canada - one of the most competitive piping environments in the world. I currently play with a band that includes some of the best piping talent in the Detroit/Windsor area.
I've been teaching since 1991. My teaching style is easygoing and very much adapted to the student's learning style. My goal for my students is for them to play at the highest level of which they are capable and to enjoy their journey to that level. Although I don't specifically teach my students to compete, those students who choose to compete will find themselves with all the skills they need to be successful.
Hobbies/Interests
Music has been my passion as long as I can remember. I really can't think of a musical genre I'm not interested in listening to or at least learning about. My favorite genres are Celtic (obviously), other traditional folk, and classical (early to modern). Really well done Celtic/Rock fusion is right up there as well.
I am an avid student of languages, cultures and belief systems. I enjoy Vegetable gardening and bicycling.
