Laurie received her B.M. in Clarinet Performance from Oakland University in the summer of 2004 and in addition to clarinet performance, studied music education at both Lawrence University in Appleton , WI and Oakland University in Rochester , MI . She is on staff at Oakland University ’s preparatory school and gives private instruction in multiple instruments. Throughout her career Laurie has participated in many performance ensembles including symphonic band, wind ensembles and other chamber ensembles at various universities including Millikin, Lawrence and Oakland.
Hobbies/Interests
Horseback riding, camping, reading, singing, and performing.

“Learning takes place according to each individuals personal experience, learning ability and prior knowledge. It is the educator’s role to present new concepts in context, within the student’s zone of proximal development. In conjunction with the educators, the student must be open to learning and continue to mature and develop through social interaction and experience.
