Alexander Roth

Cello – Waterford – $25 Per half hour

Hello! My name is Alexander and I picked up my first cello at the age of 8. I graduated from Central Michigan University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and a minor in Music Performance in 2016 and have not stopped learning since. I currently study with DSO cellist Una O’Riordan.

My interest in music is continuously evolving and has taken a foothold in the “healing arts” as a member of the Detroit Medical Orchestra. We perform regular concerts and “healing recitals” around Metro Detroit, also collaborating with the Detroit Institute of the Arts and the Grosse Point War Memorial Chamber Series for joint artistic projects. I have served as principle cello of Spectrum Orchestra, assistant principle and section cellist of the Blue Lake Festival Orchestra for many summers and traveled Europe as the principle cello with the Blue Lake International Youth Symphony Orchestra in 2014. I also performed 4 years with the CMU Symphony and Pit Orchestras, and served as a string collaborator with Oakland University, performing in various graduate chamber ensembles and assisting students as needed. You may also see me performing with various worship groups around Metro Detroit using “high tech” setups including electric cello and wireless pickup microphones.

I am currently serving in the United States Air Force, Michigan Air National Guard in a full-time capacity. In my spare time you will find me flying privately, playing Minecraft or trying to learn the guitar!
