Hans attended Western Michigan University from 1984-86 in percussion performance and received a Bachelors of Music Education degree from Oakland University in 1995. He is currently working on his Masters of Music Education degree at Oakland. Hans has successfully taught band at White Hill MS and Detroit Country Day School, and is currently teaching Pre-K through 8th grade music and bands at St. Lawrence Catholic School. He is also Orff/Schulwerk certified. Hans has enjoyed a successful private teaching career since 1984.
While currently performing with the group Rich K. Brazil and Beyond, Hans has been working in the Detroit metro area since 1987 as a freelance percussionist. He composed and published a percussion book, A Clear Approach to Reading and Playing Rhythm for Young Percussionists, and has manufactured Hans Muer Percussion Mallets since 1987.
Hobbies/Interests (Music or non-music related)
Hans enjoys spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He also loves to work on challenging pieces on the marimba and learning new and interesting drum beats on the drum set.
