Saxophone, Clarinet, Flute – Waterford McCourt’s Music
The goal with every student is to give them the tools to help them become their own best teacher and critic.
Jeff holds a Master of Music in Saxophone Performance from West Chester University, where he studied with Gunnar Mossblad and a Bachelor of Music Education from Central Michigan University, where he studied with John Nichol.
He has experience teaching all grade levels of students from kindergarten to university music majors. This includes teaching saxophone and jazz history at the University of Toledo, teaching classical saxophone at Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp, and even teaching as a middle school band and choir director.
Jeff has considerable experience as a performer in a variety of situations ranging from the concert hall as a classical saxophonist, to playing in a pit for musical theater, to playing with jazz and rock groups. He has performed with the Scott Gwinnell Jazz Orchestra, the Jimmy Dorsey Orchestra, and Voodoo Lounge (a Rolling Stones tribute band). He has also shared the stage with Terry Gibbs, Marvin Stamm, and David Liebman.
Jeff recently moved to Lake Orion from Saginaw and got married. Outside of teaching and performing, he works in a variety of music related areas including music engraving and sound engineering. When he has time to relax, Jeff likes to spend time with his wife, reading, and working with computers and electrical equipment.
