Guitar, Drums – Waterford McCourt’s Music

Do not let what you can’t do interfere with what you can do.

Ron is the founder and lead singer/guitarist for The Vintage, one of Southeastern Michigan’s premier cover bands. Since forming in 2006, The Vintage averages 100 performances each year, playing in some of the most renown venues across Michigan.  In 2005, he recorded demos with some of the southeast’s top session musicians at Sound Emporium, “Nashville’s most legendary recording studio”, and has since released two CDs, in 2007 and 2009. The band has also performed twice at Voodoofest in New Orleans, opening for some of the biggest names in rock.

In his 30+ years of playing music, Ron has toured around the U.S. and Canada, recorded with numerous artists, and given lessons to many young drummers and guitarists. His diversity in experience – from drum section leader in his high school marching band, to 1989 graduate of Musician Institute’s Percussion Institute of Technology, to composer of original music, to live solo and band performance veteran, to studio session “hired gun“, to band leader, etc. – provides a solid foundation on which his students may rely, while at the same time allowing for each student’s unique expression to be nurtured. His process is simple: define the student’s musical goals, map out the steps to get there, and have fun getting to work!

Spending time with his son, Zachary; good movies; writing, recording, and performing original music; reading; collecting live/rare recordings of great bands; catching a great live show; helping others find their musical path.
