Waterford & Troy – $30 per half hour
I am on a mission. I want to help musicians find and express themselves, making the world a better place.
Jeff holds a Master of Music degree in Saxophone Performance from West Chester University, where he studied with Gunnar Mossblad and a Bachelor of Music Education degree from Central Michigan University, where he studied with John Nichol. He also has an Associate of Applied Science degree in chemical process technology from Delta College.
Jeff has experience teaching all grade levels of students from kindergarten to university music majors. He has taught concert saxophone at Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp for seven years, was a middle school band and choir director for two years, and also taught elementary general music for a year. His number one goal as a teacher is to help students develop as musicians (and as people, it’s the same) in a safe, honest environment where a student can fail, analyze why, then move on learning from the experience.
Jeff has considerable experience as a performer in a variety of situations ranging from the concert hall as a classical saxophonist, to playing with jazz and rock groups. He has performed with the Scott Gwinnell Jazz Orchestra, the Jimmy Dorsey Orchestra, and Voodoo Lounge (a Rolling Stones tribute band). He has also shared the stage with Terry Gibbs, Marvin Stamm, and David Liebman.
Hobbies/Interests
Outside of teaching and performing, Jeff works in a variety of music related areas including music engraving and sound engineering. When he has time to relax, Jeff likes to spend time with his wife, read, and work with computers and elctrical equipment.
