Montana King is a versatile soprano and dedicated voice teacher currently completing her Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance at Oakland University in December of 2025, where she studies under the instruction of Barbara Bland. With prior vocal training from Alta Dantzler and Elizabeth Medvinsky, Montana brings a well-rounded and deeply rooted technical foundation to her teaching.
Montana has extensive performance experience across opera, musical theatre, and choral music. Her operatic credits include roles such as The Witch in Hansel and Gretel, Dorabella in Così fan tutte, and Sylvia in The Impresario. She has also performed in numerous opera scenes and held leading roles in musicals including Guys and Dolls, Spamalot, and Little Shop of Horrors.
In addition to her solo work, Montana is an active ensemble singer, currently singing with the Grosse Pointe United Methodist Choir and the Oakland University Chorale. She has also performed with the Choral Artists of Michigan and the Detroit Lutheran Singers and held section leader roles across soprano and alto lines.
As a voice teacher, Montana is passionate about helping singers of all ages and levels develop healthy technique, expressive artistry, and confidence in performance. Her teaching draws on classical vocal pedagogy while embracing the stylistic demands of musical theatre and jazz.
Hobbies/Interests
Outside the studio, Montana enjoys traveling, reading, and crocheting. She also loves spending time with her family in Florida and exploring new creative outlets in her free time.
