"Be your own artist, and always be confident in what you're doing. If you're not going to be confident, you might as well not be doing it." - Aretha Franklin

"If everything was perfect, you would never learn and you would never grow." - Beyonce

I have been playing the clarinet for over 15 years now and have been teaching privately for 10 of those years. I received my bachelors in Clarinet Performance from Butler University and soon after, I attended Michigan State University where I received my masters in Clarinet Performance and Music Business. I currently serve as the Principal Clarinet of the Southeastern Michigan Wind Ensemble and Utility Clarinet for the Royal Oak Symphony Orchestra. Recently, I've performed with the International Symphony Orchestra, the Macomb Symphony Orchestra, and with Detroit Chamber Winds and Strings. I have performance experience in of course classical, orchestral, and band settings but also in jazz, klezmer, and popular music. I enjoy using technology as a tool to help students learn how to better practice and perform. I believe music is best taught when there are multiple outlets and performance opportunities and will encourage my students to perform and share their music as much as possible. I know every student is different and will craft a personalized teaching method in order to help them succeed and grow into the musician they want to be.
