Detroit native Pat Prouty is a bassist, composer, conductor and educator. Pat was recently chosen as the first ever Detroit Composer Laureate and has over 30 years of teaching experience. He obtained his Master of Music in Improvisation from the University of Michigan and Bachelor of Music in Jazz Studies from Wayne State University.

Pat has composed original music performed by the Detroit Symphony Orchestra and has had original music featured in Film/TV such as Breaking Bad, Brookly 99, The Good Place, Super Bowl LV, Masterpiece Theater, Nurse Jackie and others.

Pat’s interests include Star Wars, Detroit Tigers, and Detroit History.
